The FCC Will No Longer Permit Wireless Microphones in the 700MHz Band After June 12th
With the completion of the digital television transition the FCC is now repurposing the frequencies between 698MHz and 806 MHz (the 700 MHz Band) for public safety and other services. Prior to the DTV transition these frequencies were used by broadcast TV stations and were available for use by low power wireless microphone systems.
The FCC is only prohibiting the use of wireless microphones that operate in the 700 MHz Band. You may continue to use wireless microphones that operate on other broadcast frequencies. Microphones and other similar devices with cords are not affected by the FCC’s decision.
To see if your wireless microphone systems are affected by this law you can check the FCC’s list of affected equipment at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones/manufacturers.html or contact your account manager at HB Communications.
You can read more about the new law at the FCC’s website at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones/.
HB Communications is here to support our clients during this transition. A number of wireless microphone manufactures are providing rebates for old wireless equipment that can no longer be used. Here are some links to a few of the rebates that are available. Please contact your account manager for additional information and support.
