Northeastern University, integrated a new HD control room with HB’s help

This year, Northeastern University in Boston, MA turned to HB Communications for help next steps after their multimillion dollar renovation of Matthew’s Arena. Matthew’s Arena is one of the oldest multipurpose buildings, but additionally is home to NU’s men’s and women’s ice hockey and men’s basketball teams. The large renovation took place two years ago but it become evident that NU needed to take the next step by integrating a new HD control room based on the NewTek TriCaster 850 EXTREME HD portable live-production system.

NU’s budget was tight, as well as the space for the new HD control room. NU turned to HB to develop a TriCaster-based setup that could fit in the arena’s very small control-room area while still producing a broadcast-quality show. The control room produces both the in-venue show for the basketball and hockey games, as well as the live stream that is available on www.GoNUxstream.com and the on-campus TV station.
