The FCC Will No Longer Permit Wireless Microphones in the 700MHz Band After June 12th
With the completion of the digital television transition the FCC is now repurposing the frequencies between 698MHz and 806 MHz (the 700 MHz Band) for public safety and other services. Prior to the DTV transition these frequencies were used by broadcast TV stations and were available for use by low power wireless microphone systems.
The FCC is only prohibiting the use of wireless microphones that operate in the 700 MHz Band. You may continue to use wireless microphones that operate on other broadcast frequencies. Microphones and other similar devices with cords are not affected by the FCC’s decision.
To see if your wireless microphone systems are affected by this law you can check the FCC’s list of affected equipment at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones/manufacturers.html or contact your account manager at HB Communications.

Christie MicroTiles Were the Talk of Boston
HB held a demo of the Christie MicroTiles February 9-11 at the BCEC
For three days, HB showcased Christie's newest technology, the MicroTiles. MicroTiles are a unique product built on proven DLP® technology and specifically designed for maximum image quality in demanding indoor, high ambient light environments. Christie MicroTiles are the solution for everything from architectural elements, out-of-home advertising, command and control video walls, and event production.
Customers from schools, museums, transportation agencies, architect and design offices, and many more attended the show over the three days. Even with the flopped snow storm that was to occur during the middle of the show, HB saw a great turnout. Visitors were able to see and touch the tiles as well as learn that Christie is the first to 100% correctly capture major corporations brand colors, such as the Coca Cola red and the Bacardi green, on a medium that isn't print.
A representative from Float4 Interactive, Alexandre Simionescu, was also at the demo event showing how the MicroTiles can be interactive. Cool backgrounds and fun graphics can move across the screen depending upon a viewer's hand motions in front of the MicroTiles.

HB Gathered to Celebrate Mackey Barron's 90th Birthday
On February 19th, the staff at HB's headquarters in North Haven, CT gathered together to celebrate the founder of HB Communications, Mackey Barron's 90th Birthday
With a room full of employees, Mackey Barron made his triumphant entrance into one of HB's demo rooms and was greeted with a roaring applause and cheers. Mr. Barron blew out the candles on his birthday cake and spoke about how his mother reached the age of 98 and he's looking to beat her record!
CEO and son of Mackey, Dana Barron, spoke a few words about his father and offered a poem he wrote about "What a Difference Nine Decades Makes." After that, others spoke words about Mr. Barron and what a difference he has made in the audio visual industry and this company. During the celebration, a slideshow showing pictures of Barron and the history of HB through the years played, which included photos from when the building was on Audio Lane in New Haven, Mr. Barron's boat, and even his old office on Corporate Drive in North Haven.
HB is grateful to be led by a leader like Mackey Barron, who is a pioneer in the industry and a dedicated hard-working individual and looks forward to celebrating his 100th birthday in 2020.
