Manchester Community College - Manchester, Connecticut

Long overdue for a campus wide facelift, Manchester Community College recently underwent a major building renovation initiative that was split into two phases.

Phase one included the construction of a new building with 31 teaching and conference spaces. Each teaching space included: a classroom computer, laptop connection, VCR, document camera and provisions for auxiliary and off air sources. Each of these spaces were designed and developed using a consistent user interface, which was provided by Crestron touch panels.

Phase two included the construction of another 39 teaching and meeting spaces along with an office tower and a "village" of small free standing special function spaces in the courtyard. The same technology elements used in phase one were also deployed in these new classrooms - drawing overwhelming acceptance and enthusiasm from the faculty.

Phase two also included the development of a high-end auditorium featuring an elaborate mixing system that feeds high quality speech and surround sound audio. This room features video projection for both instructional and entertainment purposes. Broadcast production capabilities were also built into the auditorium, including multiple cameras for live switching, recording and cable TV feed capabilities.

Other areas of the project included a cinema studies room with a 16:9 presentation system and surround sound, multiple music practice and presentation classrooms, speech and program presentation systems and a fitness center with an extensive cable TV system.

Bose Corporation - Framingham, Massachusetts

Bose Corporation's vision was to implement the industries most powerful and robust presentation technology into an elegant auditorium design. This move would support their meeting and media presentation requirements for employee orientations, domestic and worldwide sales seminars, press releases and new product introductions.

The facility accommodates just over three hundred people and supports a wide array of media presentation formats, from video and slide projection to all formats of audio reproduction. Eighteen equipment racks, over four hundred receptacle plates and literally miles of cable were integrated.

The project was completed in approximately 3,375 hours. This included seven conference rooms, each with sound and video projection and large monitor displays. In April, the Bose Corporation auditorium was awarded grand prize in the auditorium category of Presentations Magazine's annual "Best Presentations Rooms" Contest.
